analysis
The standard procedure for analyzing reported sightings is defined. However, the sequence of steps is dynamically adjusted based on the available information and knowledge, which may necessitate further investigations.
The 6 steps of our analysis
1. Data collection and witness interviews
When? Exact time and date.
Where? Exact observation location (GPS data, postal code, direction of view, etc.).
What? Detailed description: shape, color, brightness, movement pattern, sounds, estimated size/distance, etc.
Who? Number of witnesses and their credibility/expertise (e.g., pilots, sworn persons, motivation for reporting).
2. Examination for "usually suspicious" causes
Astronomy: Examination of planets (especially Venus/Jupiter), bright stars, or meteors.
Technology: Satellites (especially Starlink chains), ISS, balloons (weather/party balloons), drones, airplanes or helicopters, etc.
Atmospheric effects: refraction of light, inversion weather conditions, mirages or lenticular clouds.
Light sources: spotlights from concerts/discos, lasers, neon signs, etc.
3. Analysis of photo and video material
Authenticity check: Is it a fake (CGI) or a reflection in the lens (lens flare)?
Parallax effect: A distant, slow-moving object can appear very fast next to a nearby reference point.
4. Triangulation and data matching
Radar and flight data: Comparison with flight plans (civil and military air traffic) and radar data at the time of sighting.
Multiple sightings: If several witnesses see the same object in different locations, its position can be triangulated.
5. Involvement of further experts and partner organizations
Information exchange with partner organizations such as MUFON-CES
Exchange with aviation or radar experts, astrophysicists, metreologists
6. Classification
After the examination, the classification is as follows:
Identified (TNOs - Temporarily Nonattributed Objects): Cause found.
Unidentified (UFO): Despite intensive investigation, no known cause could be found. This does not automatically mean aliens, time travelers, or people from another dimension, but simply "unknown."
